Varroxal is a highly effective Oxalic acid dihydrate powder (0.71 g/g) for the treatment of the Varroa destructor in honey bees (Apis mellifera). It's that The only means approved in Germany for evaporating oxalic acid and is also suitable for drip or spray application. Varroxal is in the ecological / organic beekeeping approved.

The powder comes in a resealable 200 g can delivered and contains one measuring spoon.
A flat and evenly filled measuring spoon is equivalent 1 g oxalic acid dihydrate.

Application and dosage

1. Evaporation
For use in broodless bee colonies with suitable vaporization devices (available in the shop).

• Dosage: 2 g Varroxal per colony (measured with the enclosed measuring spoon)
• Application: Fill the powder into the crucible of the evaporator and evaporate
• For heavily infested colonies (> 1 mite natural mite fall per day) or if capped brood was still present during the first treatment, a second evaporation can be carried out after 2 weeks.

2. Drizzle application
For single use in brood-free colonies in the summer after the honey harvest or in autumn/winter when outside temperatures are above -15 °C.

Preparation of the dripping solution:

• Mix 8 measuring spoons of Varroxal with 200 ml lukewarm sugar syrup (1:1, 30–35 °C).
• Corresponds to a 4% (m/V) oxalic acid dihydrate solution.
• Close the container and shake vigorously until the powder is completely dissolved.
• Apply solution lukewarm.

Dosage:

• Instill with a syringe (e.g. 60 ml) or automatic syringe.
• Dose: 0.25 ml per dm² honeycomb surface per side.
• One drop solution is enough to treat four colonies.

3. Spray treatment
For swarms, artificial swarms or artificially brood-free colonies at temperatures above 8 °C.

• A second treatment after 2 weeks is only recommended for severe residual infestation (> 6%).

Preparation of the spray solution:

• Mix 6 measuring spoons of Varroxal with 200 ml of lukewarm drinking water.
• Corresponds to a 3% (m/V) oxalic acid dihydrate solution.
• Shake solution until clear.

Dosage:

• Spray 2–4 ml of solution on each side of the honeycomb occupied by bees.
• Maximum 80 ml per hive.
• For swarms or artificial swarms: 20–25 ml of solution per kg of bee mass.
