Our story
How it all started
I am Johann Wagner – and Bienenwagner was a real one-man show in the beginning.
A few bee colonies, a lot of passion and the conviction that beekeeping must remain affordable.
From my time at Lidl I took a principle with me that still shapes us today:
Good quality. Fair prices. No unnecessary bells and whistles.
From a lone fighter to a small team
One person gradually became a small team – family, friends, reliable helpers.
Everyone brings their own strengths.
And that's exactly what it does Bienenwagner out today.
Beekeeping out of passion - not out of obligation
Our enthusiasm for bees has remained the same over the years.
We first grew from a few colonies to around 80 and later consciously went back to around 20-40.
Why this step back?
Because Imkern Freude machen soll – with heart and passion, not as a burden.
Especially in the season when there is so much to do in retail, more wouldn't make sense.
Our queen breeding – the heart and passion
A special part of our work is queen breeding - a mixture of manual work, planning, time and a lot of enthusiasm.
And yes: sometimes a little crazy.
Our belief:
Good genetics are the basis for beekeeping, which is simply a joy.
Every year we raise several hundred queens and send them to mating sites.
One part remains for your own selection, the other goes on sale.
And nothing makes us prouder than hearing that our queens work just as well for other beekeepers as they do for us.
Feedback is always welcome – it helps us.
Fair prices instead of expensive air numbers
Our basic idea was simple:
Good products for beekeepers at honest prices.
We wanted to create a fair alternative - without a “brand markup”, without glitter, but with reliable quality.
Products that work without having to dig too deep into your pockets.
Grown step by step
Demand grew quickly.
Warehouses became too small, new halls were needed - and at the same time the range became larger and larger.
We are not the largest dealer on the market.
But we want to be among those who do best value for money offer.
And that's exactly what we work on every day.
Our mission
Our mission is clear and simple:
We want to make beekeeping affordable for everyone.
Everyone should have the opportunity to start or expand beekeeping - without excessive prices.
Many of our products are manufactured exclusively for us.
If something is sold out, it's because we sometimes have difficulty estimating demand.
But we always step on the gas so that we can pick it up again quickly.
